Short answer

Compare front and four-wheel service prices, modified-vehicle starting prices, lifetime plans and dated US owner reports before agreeing to an alignment.

You are holding the steering wheel slightly crooked to go straight, or one edge of a tire is wearing faster than the rest. An alignment sounds like a small job, until the quote includes a package and extra adjustments.

So the car alignment menus I checked include $100 for a front alignment and $140 for a four-wheel alignment at Marco’s & Son Tires in Jersey City. Roda, near Washington, D.C., charges $132 for its alignment service.

I will help you compare those services, see what can raise the bill, and decide whether a lifetime plan suits you. I also found owners’ prices for single visits and a lifetime purchase.

Single-Visit Alignment Prices

These are local businesses’ published prices, checked October 23, 2026. The service descriptions matter as much as the amount.

Full four-wheel alignmentMarco’s & Son Tires, Jersey City NJ$140

Marco’s service menu separates front and full alignment. Ask which service your vehicle needs and what the shop will measure and adjust.

Roda’s alignment service includes a suspension and tire inspection, measurements at all four wheels, adjustments, steering-wheel centering and a verification drive.

At Mr. B’s Alignment, the starting price includes checks of steering, suspension and tire condition, plus test drives before and after. It also includes straightening the steering wheel as needed.

What Can Make an Alignment Cost More?

Mr. B’s has separate starting prices for vehicles outside its standard-car category. A low advertised car price is not a promise for a lifted truck or a lowered classic.

Worn steering or suspension parts can affect alignment accuracy. If the estimate adds parts, ask what movement or damage the inspection found and what the alignment price covers afterward.

If your suspension has been modified, describe the changes when booking. Ask whether the shop can reach the settings you need with the adjustment hardware already fitted.

What the Alignment Numbers Mean

Bridgestone’s alignment explanation separates three angles. Toe is the direction the tires point when viewed from above. Camber is the wheel’s inward or outward lean from the front.

Caster concerns the steering-axis tilt seen from the side. These angles describe different things, so a steering wheel that looks straight does not tell you that every setting is correct.

Ask for the measured values before and after adjustment. Firestone’s standard-service description includes both printouts, adjustments to manufacturer specifications and a road test.

If a value remains outside the specified range, have the technician explain why. Some vehicles need additional parts or repair work; a color on the sheet alone cannot tell you which repair is justified.

What Owners Paid

The following are dated US owner reports, not current coupons. A lifetime plan buys a different service from a single adjustment.

  • A CivicXI member in the US wrote on March 26, 2024, that a Firestone lifetime alignment plan for an older car had cost $160. They had used it for about 15 alignments.
  • A Southern California member replied the same day that alignments at their local shop cost $80, with discounts when the shop installed suspension modifications.
  • On February 7, 2023, a member with a 2022 CX-9 in their profile wrote that they pay an independent shop $100 to adjust all four wheels. The post does not identify which car that price covered.

Is a Lifetime Alignment Worth Buying?

Firestone’s published lifetime offer includes its standard alignment work and later realignments while you own the car, subject to the limited-warranty terms. Its public offer page does not give one nationwide base price.

If you intend to keep the car and can conveniently return to the chain, the package deserves a look. Compare the local plan quote with the cost of the future visits you realistically expect.

If you expect to sell soon or use a specialist for a modified car, a single visit may suit you better. A plan has little value when the participating shop cannot do the setup you need.

Read the actual terms for your vehicle. Ask about modifications, extra parts, safety-system work and rechecks. A lifetime alignment plan should not be treated as a warranty on every steering or suspension repair.

Check the Cause Before Paying for Adjustment

An alignment changes suspension settings. Balancing corrects a weight imbalance in the rotating wheel and tire. Bridgestone distinguishes the two, so describe whether the car pulls, shakes or has uneven tread wear.

For a shake that appears at certain speeds, ask the shop to inspect the tires, wheels and balance as well. If the rim is damaged, the wheel repair guide covers that work.

When shopping for tires, price the alignment separately unless it is included in writing. The tire replacement guide explains the other fitting charges on that bill.

If the steering wheel remains off-center immediately after service, go back with the printout and describe what happens on the road. Give the original shop a chance to check its work under the service terms.
