Short answer

Hydraulic pump replacement, repair options, core deposits and the fluid work to check on an estimate.

Turning into a parking space has become hard work, and the pump is making a noise you cannot ignore. You need a repair price, but first make sure the estimate names the part your car actually uses.

So Irish Mike’s Total Car Care gives $350 to $700 for a full power steering pump replacement, including labor, in its Orlando guidance. That local range is for the pump job, not every steering repair.

I checked the shop’s repair options, a replacement part with a refundable deposit and three owner accounts. Here is how to separate a pump bill from a hose, reservoir or steering rack bill.

Does Your Car Have a Hydraulic Pump?

Irish Mike’s distinguishes hydraulic steering from electric power steering, which has no hydraulic pump. Confirm the system before comparing a pump price with a quote for an electric steering motor or rack.

A heavy steering wheel does not settle that question. Give the shop your year, engine and symptoms so the diagnosis and replacement part match the vehicle.

The Pump Replacement Price and Smaller Repairs

The Orlando shop separates several jobs on its price page, checked October 25, 2026:

Pump bearing fault, rebuild or replaceIrish Mike’s; parts and labor guidance$250-$500
Complete seizure or no pump outputIrish Mike’s; full replacement, parts and labor$350-$700
Pump and damaged steering rackIrish Mike’s; combined repair guidance$800-$1,800

Its high-mileage, repeated-failure row separately gives $400 to $750 for a quality replacement. The condition and included work matter more than choosing whichever row looks cheapest.

Irish Mike's Orlando pump replacement $350-$700 parts and labor; pump plus damaged rack $800-$1,800 combined.

Ask whether the total covers fluid, flushing, bleeding, seals and any pulley or reservoir work. If the estimate includes a rack, have the shop explain the evidence for replacing that component too.

A leaking power steering hose is a different repair. Ask to see the leak location when a pump and several lines appear on the same estimate.

A Parts Price Can Come With a Core Deposit

FCP Euro’s Maval 96601M pump for selected BMW applications was $206.99, plus a $75 core charge, when checked October 25, 2026. The listing identifies the unit as remanufactured.

That makes the initial parts outlay $206.99 + $75 = $281.99 before tax and shipping. FCP Euro explains that returning the old unit brings back the core charge; the customer pays return shipping.

FCP Euro Maval 96601M: $206.99 pump + $75 core = $281.99 initial parts outlay; refundable core, customer pays return shipping.

The listing covers selected models including the 128i, 325i and 328i, with fitment variations. It is a retail example, not a price for every BMW or evidence that your own car uses hydraulic steering.

Why a New Pump May Need More Than Fitting

CARDONE’s pump troubleshooting bulletin tells technicians to correct the original cause of failure. Its checks include contaminated or incorrect fluid, a pump run dry, restricted hoses and belt or pulley problems.

It calls for flushing old fluid and using OE-approved fluid. Check the vehicle’s service manual for any special bleeding procedure.

For a remote reservoir, CARDONE also checks its screen for blockage and the feed hose for collapse or pinching.

Those points explain why fluid and cleaning can belong in a pump estimate. They do not establish that every hose, reservoir and rack must be replaced on every car.

If the original symptom remains after the job, take the invoice back to the shop. CARDONE cautions that an unchanged problem can mean the pump was not the original cause.

What Owners Paid or Were Asked to Pay

The following reports on CarComplaints are useful for their scope. They are older US experiences, with the payment status kept as the owner described it.

  • A Morrisville, North Carolina 2005 Odyssey owner paid $650 for a pump and reservoir at a Honda dealer, in an account dated December 22, 2009.
  • A Sale Creek, Tennessee 2010 Traverse owner reported a dealer pump replacement at a cost of $641.84, dated September 20, 2013.
  • An Edison, New Jersey 2010 Mazda3 owner reported a $850 pump price and about $300 labor quote on March 9, 2016. Mazda offered to cover labor, leaving the requested $850 parts payment; the post does not confirm payment.

The Odyssey account includes a reservoir, while the Traverse account names the pump. I would use the work described on each invoice when comparing these stories with an estimate today.

Repair the Pump or Buy Another One?

The Orlando shop considers both repair and replacement according to the fault and condition. Ask what is being renewed in a rebuild and what warranty comes with that work.

For a new or remanufactured assembly, confirm what comes in the box. A price for the pump alone may leave the shop to transfer serviceable components or quote other required parts separately.

Irish Mike’s provides an itemized written estimate before work begins.

If steering assistance disappears or the car becomes difficult to control, stop safely and arrange recovery. Do not plan a journey around the hope that topping up fluid will solve the fault.

Power Steering Pump Cost Questions

How much is a power steering pump replacement with labor?

Irish Mike’s Orlando guidance gives $350 to $700 for full pump replacement, parts and labor. Its separate repeated-failure replacement row is $400 to $750; confirm which scope applies.

Does electric power steering need this pump replacement?

A fully electric system has no hydraulic pump. Its motor, controls or rack require a different diagnosis and price.

Is the $75 core charge part of the BMW pump price?

FCP Euro adds it to the $206.99 Maval part price, making $206.99 + $75 = $281.99 initially, before tax and shipping. Returning the old unit refunds the deposit under the seller’s terms.

Should every steering hose be replaced with the pump?

The estimate should identify damaged or restricted components and explain the cleaning and fluid work required. A pump replacement alone does not establish that every hose has failed.
