A thin crack across your MacBook screen can leave half the picture missing while the computer still works. Before replacing the laptop, find out whether it needs just a panel or the whole display.
So Mac Screen Repair in California publishes prices from $179 for an older MacBook Air LCD repair to $799 for selected 16-inch MacBook Pro display assemblies. Your model and the condition of the lid determine which repair applies.
I will show you those model prices, the different AppleCare route and the questions that matter before mailing your Mac away. The paid repair examples below concern MacBooks, not iMac displays.
If You Already Have AppleCare Cover
Start by checking your active plan. Apple’s US fee page gives $99 for covered screen or enclosure accidental damage on Macs other than MacBook Neo, and $299 for other accidental damage.
MacBook Neo has separate fees: $49 for screen or enclosure accidental damage and $149 for other accidental damage. These service fees are separate from what you pay for the plan.
The August 25, 2026 US AppleCare+ terms exclude applicable tax from the fees. Extra damage that prevents a screen-only repair moves the claim into the higher tier.
I would get the damage assessed before comparing a covered service fee with an independent repair. A cracked panel, a bent lid and liquid damage may leave you with different work to approve.

MacBook Screen Prices Without a Covered Claim
Mac Screen Repair’s Air menu and its Pro menu publish these examples. The shop offers a mail-in service from Carpinteria, California.
The shop’s mail-in guide includes return shipping in its repair price. Sending your own packed laptop in is your cost; its optional shipping-box service with an inbound label is $25.
Use the exact model identifier when asking for a quote. Two computers sold under the MacBook Pro name can need different displays, and the year alone may not identify the part.
LCD Repair or the Whole Display?
On the M1 Air menu, the shop can replace only the broken LCD when the surrounding edges are not dented and the display is not bent. A damaged enclosure can require the full assembly instead.
The difference on that menu is $429 less $299 = $130. That does not mean you can choose the cheaper job regardless of the damage; the retained parts have to be suitable.

At DigiFixLand in Houston, A2338 Pro prices start at $399 for an aftermarket complete display or $369 for panel-only work. The shop confirms the model, parts and final total before work starts.
Ask about the part’s origin and condition, the repair warranty, and testing of brightness, camera and display features. A quote for an aftermarket assembly describes a different product from a genuine replacement.
Three Quotes Shared by One New York Owner
On October 31, 2025, MacRumors member hoobury described an Upper West Side Apple Store visit with a dropped 15-inch M4 MacBook Air.
The owner had AppleCare cover and reported these options from the same visit:
- $99 for the screen repair under the active cover.
- $299 total if the screen and damaged bottom case were repaired together.
- Around $500 quoted for the screen without AppleCare cover.
The store quoted five to seven days, depending on parts and whether it sent the computer away. In a December 2, 2025 update, the owner reported eight working days.
The three prices were options from that visit, not three completed repairs or a current Apple price for every model.
The useful point is the combined damage. Adding separate service fees yourself can give the wrong answer; ask Apple to classify the actual claim and give the total.
What to Arrange Before Handing It Over
Back up accessible files before service. If the screen prevents you from using the Mac, tell the repairer that you need help preserving the data before approving other work.
Confirm the shipping instructions, packaging, insurance and turnaround before sending it. Ask what happens if inspection finds damage beyond the quoted screen job, including any cost to decline and have it returned.
For an older Mac, compare the repair with a replacement computer that meets your needs. Include any other work the current machine needs, rather than deciding from the screen price alone.
Questions About Fixing a Mac Screen
How much does it cost to fix an M1 MacBook Air screen?
Mac Screen Repair publishes $299 for A2337 LCD-only work or $429 for its full display replacement. The condition of the lid and surrounding edges determines whether panel-only work is suitable.
Is every AppleCare screen repair $99?
No. Apple’s current US fee page separates MacBook Neo at $49 from other Macs at $99 for covered screen or enclosure accidental damage. Other damage has a higher fee, and the active plan’s terms apply.
Is a replacement display price just for the part?
Mac Screen Repair’s figures are for LCD repair or full display replacement, with return shipping included. They are service prices, not part-only prices.
Can I use these prices for an iMac?
No. They are MacBook repair examples. Give the provider your iMac model and screen size for a separate diagnosis and quote.
