Your iPhone still does everything you need, but you are looking for a charger halfway through the day. A new battery may let you keep it longer, provided the repair price and the rest of the phone make sense.
So the US shop menus I checked start at $49 for older iPhones at Cell N Comp Repairs. MacTech Solutions’ iPhone 16 Pro example is $119 + its $50 service fee = $169 before tax.
I will show you the model prices behind those figures, what Apple’s coverage means, and the fees to check before booking. These are named providers’ prices, rather than a single national Apple tariff.
What an Apple-Authorized Provider Charges
MacTech Solutions in Wichita Falls, Texas publishes a battery table and a separate fee. Its footnote adds $50 to every out-of-warranty iPhone repair and excludes tax from the displayed prices.
Here are selected models with that service fee included. The sums use MacTech’s own table and footnote, checked October 25, 2026.
That fee is why a battery-table price and the amount you pay can differ. Ask for the complete service total for your exact model, rather than comparing only the first number in an advertisement.
For Apple’s direct price, use its US battery-service estimator. For out-of-warranty work, authorized providers can set their own fees; final pricing follows inspection.
An Independent Shop’s iPhone Battery Prices
Cell N Comp Repairs in Chicago posts these individual model prices. Its table is dated October 25, 2026; it describes premium replacement batteries and a 30-day parts-and-labor warranty with damage exclusions.
These are independent-shop prices, not Apple’s own fees. Confirm the replacement part, any battery-status messages you should expect, and the repair warranty before choosing between providers.
For a newer or unlisted model, get a quote for that model.
When AppleCare Covers the Battery
Apple’s service page offers battery replacement for no extra charge under AppleCare when capacity drops below 80%. You need eligible coverage and Apple’s assessment; the percentage alone does not create a free repair.
The ordinary Apple limited warranty covers manufacturing problems, but excludes batteries worn down through normal use. A worn battery and a defective battery are different coverage questions.
Apple also guarantees its service and replacement parts for 90 days or the remaining Apple warranty term, whichever is longer. Keep the repair record and ask how coverage applies to the proposed work.
What Owners Paid or Were Quoted
These community accounts help explain the difference between a provider’s quote and a completed repair. The amounts retain their posting dates.
- In an iPhone 11 discussion on October 29, 2024, Apple Community member Bob Timmons reported an authorized provider quoting $99 plus tax, despite the lower US estimate being discussed.
- Phoenix-based MacRumors member eyoungren recalled paying over $100 to a third party for an iPhone 6 Plus, on July 8, 2026. The repair was about two years before the post.
Neither is a current offer for your phone. I would use the first example as a reason to check the seller’s full fee, and the second as a dated experience with an older model.
Check Battery Health Before Booking
Open Settings, then Battery, and look for Battery Health. Apple’s battery-performance guide explains that maximum capacity compares the battery’s capacity with when it was new.
A battery’s ability to supply peak power also changes as it ages. Apple describes unexpected shutdowns and performance management, so tell the technician about shutdowns as well as shorter time between charges.
Replacing the battery will not repair a charging connector, broken screen or unrelated software fault. Have the provider explain what its diagnosis found before paying for extra work.
Is a Battery Worth Replacing?
If you like the phone and the main problem is battery life, compare a complete battery quote with the cost of the replacement phone you would actually buy. A battery-only bill is easier to justify on an otherwise useful device.
If the screen, cameras or charging system also need repair, compare the combined estimate. Consider whether the model still runs the software you need and whether storage or other limits would make you replace it soon anyway.
For DIY, look at the exact model’s repair procedure, tools and parts before choosing a kit. A loose battery price leaves out the work of opening and resealing the phone.
Prepare Your iPhone for Service
Back up your phone before a service appointment. In iOS 27 or later, enable Ready for Repair or Trade-In; in iOS 26 or earlier, turn off Find My.
Do not give anyone your Apple Account password or device passcode. Apple advises staying present if a technician needs you to enter those details for software support.
iPhone Battery Price Questions
Is a battery replacement free with AppleCare?
Apple’s listed benefit applies when eligible coverage is active and battery capacity drops below 80%. Apple assesses the device; ordinary battery wear is excluded from its standard limited warranty.
Do authorized shops charge exactly the same as Apple?
For out-of-warranty work, providers can set their own fees. MacTech adds a separate service fee. Covered AppleCare service has the same fee at Apple stores and authorized providers.
How much is an iPhone 13 battery replacement at the shops checked?
Cell N Comp Repairs lists the base iPhone 13 at $79. MacTech Solutions’ iPhone 13 series table and service fee give $89 + $50 = $139 before tax. The parts and service terms differ.
Does a cheaper independent repair include the same warranty?
Compare the written terms. The Chicago shop advertises 30 days with damage exclusions, while Apple’s service guarantee is 90 days or the remaining Apple warranty term, whichever is longer.
