Short answer

Roda starts fuel pressure sensor replacement at $430, or $387 for RodaCare members. Compare genuine sensor prices, three historical US owner bills and Audi's advice before replacing a fuel pump too.

Your car hesitates when you pull away, or it stalls after a short stop. The shop has found a fuel pressure sensor fault, and now you want to know whether the replacement price makes sense.

So how much does fuel pressure sensor replacement cost? Roda, which serves the Washington, D.C. area, advertises the job starting at $430, or $387 with RodaCare. Those are starting prices at one shop, not a ceiling for every car.

I will show you what that service includes, what genuine sensors cost on their own, and what three US owners paid. There is also a useful Audi bulletin about avoiding a fuel pump replacement when the sensor is the problem.

What You Get for the Replacement Price

Roda’s fuel pressure sensor service includes checking live readings, ruling out wiring or pump faults, replacing the sensor and testing the car afterward.

Initial diagnosis is free with service at Roda. Its page does not give a separate parts and labor breakdown, so ask for your car’s total with tax, fees and any extra testing before booking.

The lower price requires RodaCare membership. I would compare the regular price first if you are paying for a one-off repair.

Make Sure the Quote Names the Right Sensor

A fuel pressure sensor measures the pressure of fuel being delivered to the engine. Some systems have a sensor on the low pressure supply side as well as one on the high pressure fuel rail.

The fuel tank pressure sensor has a different job: it monitors pressure or vacuum in the tank’s vapor system. If that is the part on your quote, our EVAP leak guide explains that system.

A pressure regulator is different again. The sensor reports a reading; the regulator controls pressure. Have the part number and its location written on the quote so you can compare the same repair at another shop.

A fuel rail sensor reads fuel delivery pressure; a fuel tank pressure sensor monitors the vapor system. Simplified drawings show the two separate locations.

How Much Is the Sensor Itself?

These genuine Ford sensors were available from FordPartsGiant when checked October 17, 2026. The prices below are for the part only, before fitting, shipping and tax.

2021 to 2024 Bronco Sport 1.5LFordPartsGiant, H6BZ-9F972-A$107.65
2015 to 2017 F-150 2.7LFordPartsGiant, FT4Z-9F972-A$123.46
2015 to 2018 Edge 2.7LFordPartsGiant, FT4Z-9F972-A$123.46

Match the sensor to your VIN before ordering. A listing for the same model can still be wrong for your engine, and these parts are not the older Fusion sensors in the owner accounts below.

Ask whether the fitted price includes diagnosis and a final leak check. An online part price alone does not tell you what that work should cost.

What Owners Paid

These owners shared their repairs on CarComplaints.com. Their bills are from 2017 and 2018, so use them to see what was included rather than as today’s price list.

  • A 2014 Fusion SE 2.0L owner in Acworth, Georgia, had the dealer replace the rail sensor and told other owners to be prepared to invest another $200, on January 18, 2017. The owner skipped the diagnostic fee and had no further stalls over about 2,800 miles.
  • A 2013 Fusion SE 1.6L owner in Madison Heights, Michigan, paid $275 at Elder Ford for the lower fuel pressure sensor repair, reported April 16, 2018. The car stalled at low speed after being driven, switched off and restarted.
  • A 2013 Lincoln MKZ 2.0L owner in Monument, Colorado, reported nearly $400 in a February 27, 2018 update: $150 for diagnosis and nearly $250 for the fuel rail sensor fix.

Before You Pay for a Fuel Pump Too

A low pressure code can send you toward an expensive pump repair. But Audi found that fuel entering its G410 low pressure sensor could make the sensor send a false reading.

Audi’s 2015106/9 bulletin covers specified 2005 to 2008 engines. The mechanic compares the sensor reading with an adjusted reading from a mechanical pressure gauge.

When that test identifies the sensor as faulty, Audi replaces it and checks the result. It tells dealers to leave the pumps, pump control module and filter alone unless the fault remains and further testing finds a problem.

If your estimate includes both a sensor and a pump, ask what test showed that each failed. A fault code gives the mechanic a place to start; it does not settle the parts list by itself.

A Leak Around the Sensor May Need a Gasket

Lexus recall ELF gives another example. On certain 2008 to 2011 IS F models, the gasket between the sensor and fuel rail can leak. The repair replaces the gasket and polishes the sealing surface while reusing the old sensor.

The IS F repair instructions include removing the intake assembly and renewing several seals. That helps explain why a small sensor or gasket can come with a much larger labor bill.

If you own one of these cars, ask a Lexus dealer to check recall ELF against your VIN and confirm whether it was completed. This gasket campaign does not cover every electrical sensor fault.

If the leak is in a hose or pipe instead, see the fuel line replacement guide for that repair and its recalls.

Can You Replace It Yourself?

I would leave a high pressure fuel system to a shop unless you already have the tools and experience for it. Lexus warns that pressure must be released before opening the system, and fuel can still spray during removal.

The correct seal, tightening procedure and final leak check matter. A video of an easy sensor swap on another engine will not tell you what your car needs.

If the car is stalling, losing power or leaking fuel, stop driving it and arrange a tow. A fuel smell needs a leak inspection rather than an assumption that the sensor is sending a bad reading.

Fuel Pressure Sensor Questions You Might Have

Does a fuel pressure sensor need programming?

The procedure depends on the car. Audi’s G410 bulletin calls for a system adaptation after replacement. Ask whether your quote includes the required reset or adaptation and the final test.

Should both fuel pressure sensors be replaced together?

Roda’s service advice is to identify the failed sensor rather than replace every sensor at once. A low-side and a rail sensor have separate roles, so replacing one does not automatically call for the other.

Is the Audi bulletin a recall?

No. It is a service bulletin explaining a diagnosis and repair. Audi states that it is informational only when the car is outside warranty.

Will a new sensor turn off the check engine light?

Once the fault is repaired, the shop clears the codes and verifies the readings. If the light returns, the remaining fault needs testing before you buy more parts.
