Short answer

Replacing a fuel line comes to $262.76 on a 2021 Ram 1500 and $479.67 to $493.05 on a 2015 to 2020 Tahoe or Suburban with the carmakers' own parts and job times. Owners paid or were quoted $505 to $2,000, and many fuel lines are under recall.

You smell raw gas around your car, you see a wet patch under it, or the check engine light came on with a fuel pressure code. A leaking or blocked fuel line is not a repair to put off, because gasoline near a hot engine can catch fire.

So how much does a fuel line replacement cost? With the carmakers’ own parts and job times at $132 an hour, it comes to $262.76 on a 2021 Ram 1500 and $479.67 to $493.05 on a 2015 to 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban.

Owners paid or were quoted $505 to $2,000 at dealers and shops, and the price climbs when the fuel tank has to come down to reach the line.

In this guide I will show you what the carmakers’ parts and times add up to, what owners paid, the recalls that replace fuel lines for free and what drives the price up or down.

What the Carmakers’ Own Parts and Times Come To

GM found that some 2015 to 2020 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade models with the 5.3 and 6.2 V8 can make a ticking noise inside the cabin and may leak fuel.

GM pays its dealers 2.7 hours to replace the feed line at the engine and the hose at the tank.

With GM’s parts from a GM parts website on October 15, 2026, and $132 an hour, Tekmetric’s US average from June 2026, a Tahoe or Yukon comes to this:

Fuel feed pipe at the engine12618338$74.52
Fuel feed hose at the tank84200271, short wheelbase$62.13
Labor, 2.7 hoursGM’s time$356.40

So the job comes to $74.52 + $62.13 + $356.40 = $493.05. A Suburban or Yukon XL takes the long wheelbase hose, 84200274 at $48.75, so it comes to $479.67.

GM’s bulletin files this repair under the emission warranty, so ask a dealer whether your truck is still covered before you pay.

Ram found a fuel line blockage on some 2021 Ram 1500 Hemi pickups built from August 21 to October 2, 2020. It replaces the engine fuel line bundle, 57008587AA at $77.96 from a Mopar parts website.

Ram pays its dealers 1.4 hours for it, so the job comes to $77.96 + $184.80 = $262.76.

On the 2021 to 2023 Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe and Suburban, GM replaces the fuel feed pipe for some reduced engine power codes. That pipe, 12703596, is also $74.52, and GM adds eight intake manifold gaskets at $2.39 each.

What Owners Paid

Here is what owners told NHTSA, the US road safety agency, they paid or were quoted, with a link to each complaint:

  • A dealer said a fuel leak in the engine bay of a 2013 Escape needed a new fuel line for $505, filed in June 2021.
  • A Ford dealer charged $634.62 for parts and labor after something rubbed a hole in the fuel line of a 2011 Escape, filed in April 2015.
  • A mechanic replaced the fuel line on a 2015 Kia Sedona for $699.16, filed in October 2022.
  • A mechanic dropped the tank on a 2009 Honda Pilot and fitted a new fuel feed line for $790.74, filed in October 2018.
  • A Honda dealer quoted $980 for a fuel line on a 2015 CR-V that it said a mouse had chewed, filed in August 2017.
  • A Nissan dealer wanted $1,200 to $1,500 to replace a leaking fuel line on a 2013 Titan, filed in July 2018.
  • A Toyota dealer asked $1,400 to replace the fuel pressure hose and clamp on a 2018 Sienna, filed in July 2025.
  • A cracked plastic fuel line on a 2020 Honda Ridgeline could only be replaced with a new tank, for $2,000, filed in January 2023.
  • A Jeep dealer suggested replacing the whole fuel line on a 2014 Cherokee for $2,000, filed in January 2020.

So owners paid or were quoted $505 to $2,000. The bills near $2,000 were for whole lines or for a line that came only with a new tank.

Price bars worked out with the carmakers' parts and times: 2021 Ram 1500 $262.76; 2015 to 2020 Tahoe or Suburban $479.67 to $493.05; owners: 2013 Escape dealer quote $505; 2011 Escape at a Ford dealer $634.62; 2015 Kia Sedona $699.16; 2009 Honda Pilot with the tank dropped $790.74; 2015 CR-V dealer quote $980; 2013 Nissan Titan dealer quote $1,200 to $1,500; 2018 Toyota Sienna at a dealer $1,400; 2020 Honda Ridgeline with a new tank $2,000; 2014 Jeep Cherokee dealer quote $2,000

Recalls That Replace Fuel Lines Free

Carmakers have recalled fuel lines and hoses on many popular cars. If yours is listed, a dealer fixes it free, and NHTSA’s recall lookup shows it by VIN:

  • Kia and Hyundai: the low pressure fuel hose can crack on some 2013 and 2014 Optima, recalls 20V-100 and 22V-093, and 2013 and 2014 Sonata, recalls 20V-121 and 22V-312.
  • Ford: a fuel line on some 2013 Escapes with the 1.6 liter engine, 12V-336 and 13V-584, and loose fuel lines on some 2022 Explorer and Ranger 2.3 liter models, 22V-685.
  • Toyota: a plastic fuel tube that can rub against the brake lines on some 2022 and 2023 Tundras, 23V-566.
  • Jeep: a cracked fuel supply line connector on some 2020 Wranglers with the 2.0 liter engine, 21V-665.
  • Honda: a fuel supply pipe on some 2017 CR-Vs, 17V-442.

A 2014 Optima owner was quoted about $560 for a fuel tube by a Kia dealer in January 2023, on a car from the years these Kia recalls cover. That is why I advise you to check the VIN before paying.

What Drives the Price

Access is the biggest factor. A short line or hose in the engine bay is a quick job, while a line that runs along the frame or over the tank can mean dropping the tank, as on the Pilot above.

Rust is the next. Steel fuel lines on older trucks can rust through, and Lines To Go sells pre-bent stainless steel fuel line sets for 2004 to 2007 Silverado and Sierra 1500 pickups at $221.30 each. A shop still adds the labor to fit them.

Some lines come only with a bigger part: the Ridgeline owner above had to buy a whole new tank. Ask the shop whether your line comes on its own before you agree to the quote.

Is It Safe to Drive With a Leaking Fuel Line?

No. Every recall above gives the risk of a fire as its reason. If you smell fuel, park the car outside, away from anything that can burn, and have it towed.

A fuel smell is not always the line itself. The Sienna above needed a fuel pressure hose and clamp after a fuel pump recall, so ask the shop to show you exactly where the fuel comes from.

Fuel Line Questions You Might Have

How much does it cost to replace a fuel line?

With the carmakers’ parts and times at $132 an hour, it comes to $262.76 on a 2021 Ram 1500 and $479.67 to $493.05 on a 2015 to 2020 Tahoe or Suburban. Owners paid or were quoted $505 to $2,000.

How long does it take to replace a fuel line?

Ram pays its dealers 1.4 hours for a 2021 Ram 1500 fuel line bundle, and GM pays 2.7 hours for the feed line and tank hose on its full size SUVs. A line over the tank takes longer.

Can I drive with a leaking fuel line?

No. Gasoline leaking near a hot engine can catch fire, so park outside and have the car towed.

Is a fuel line covered by a recall?

On some cars, yes. Kia, Hyundai, Ford, Toyota, Jeep and Honda have recalled fuel lines and hoses, so check your VIN on NHTSA’s recall lookup.

Can I replace just the leaking part of a fuel line?

Sometimes a hose or one section can be replaced, but some lines come only as a bundle or with the tank. Ask the shop what your car needs.
