You have found a wrap color you love, but the quote needs to cover more than a roll of vinyl. The finish, edges and condition of the paint underneath all belong in the decision.
So a car color-change wrap starts at $3,000 for standard film or $4,500 for premium film at PRO Detailing in Manassas, Virginia. Those are installation starting prices, with the final scope confirmed in person.
I checked the shop menus on October 24, 2026. Here you can compare finishes, smaller wrap jobs, removal charges and three owners’ different amounts.
Start With the Type of Film
PRO’s car category covers coupes, sedans, hatchbacks and wagons. Standard film includes gloss, satin and matte; its premium category covers color-shift, chrome and textured finishes.
Those prices are for having the film installed. A vinyl roll sold online is a material purchase, so it should not be compared directly with a finished shop job.

Limitless Wraps also starts small two-door coupes at $2,000 and small sedans at $2,900 for gloss, satin or matte. Bumpers, spoilers and other surface details affect its estimate.
For a pickup, use my truck wrap guide. It has the cab and truck-model comparisons; the prices here focus on cars.
Small Changes Without a Full Wrap
You might get the appearance you want from just a roof or hood. Limitless has these separate starting prices on its San Antonio menu:
Check the actual panel and film with the installer. A trim blackout, a roof accent and a full exterior color change cover very different amounts of work.
Old Film and Door Jambs Add to the Job
At PRO, full car wrap removal starts at $650 and a door-jamb upgrade at $800. For its standard car wrap plus removal, the starting sum is $3,000 + $650 = $3,650 before additional work.
That comparison is useful if your car already has film. Ask whether the old wrap, adhesive and any failing paint need work before the installer can start the replacement.

Open the doors when you discuss coverage. If the old paint is a very different color, decide whether you are happy to see it inside the openings or want those areas included.
A Wrap Does Not Repair Bad Paint
PRO’s inspection guidance warns that chips, dents and texture can remain visible, and unstable paint can make fitting or removal risky. Tell the shop about past body repairs before it approves the film.
If the surface needs refinishing first, my car paint job guide explains repaint packages and preparation. Get the surface decision made before buying a wrap to hide it.
Also name the product you are buying. A color-change vinyl wrap and clear paint protection film serve different purposes, even though people often call both a “wrap”.
What Car Owners Paid or Discussed
These US Tesla Motors Club accounts show why I keep the film and coverage beside the price. One is a full color change, one a shopping discussion and one a trim-only job.
- musicious in the Chicago area paid a little over $2,000 for an Avery blue Model S wrap, posted April 12, 2015. The original dark blue hid gaps, and inside areas such as the door wells were left out.
- Muifamily1811 in Pasadena, California discussed vinyl at around $2,500 for a Model 3 on January 19, 2023. The post describes shopping for a color change, not a completed purchase.
- mbhforum on Long Island, New York paid $900 for satin-black chrome delete, posted July 28, 2020. This was trim work on a Model S. In a follow-up that day, the owner said other work bought at the same visit may have helped the price.
The Chicago owner’s coverage explains part of that older bill. Use these stories to spot scope differences, while using a current shop estimate to budget your own installation.
Choose the Sample and the Handover
I would view the actual film on a sample before agreeing to the color. A screen image is a useful shortlist, but the finish you see beside the car is what you will live with.
Limitless gives five to seven business days for installation. Its page disagrees on wrap life: three to five years near the prices, but seven years in its FAQ. Ask about the expected life and warranty of the film you choose.
At collection, review the edges and the agreed coverage with the installer. Get care instructions for the exact film and written details of who handles lifting edges or an installation fault.
Car Wrap Questions
How much does it cost to wrap a car?
PRO Detailing in Manassas starts standard full car color changes at $3,000 and premium films at $4,500. Limitless Wraps in San Antonio starts regular sedan gloss, satin and matte wraps at $3,000.
Is a wrap cheaper than painting?
Compare the actual work. A budget exterior repaint, a wrap on sound paint and refinishing damaged paint before wrapping are different jobs. Ask for matching coverage and preparation in both estimates.
What does wrap removal cost?
PRO’s full car removal starts at $650 for one existing full-body wrap and ordinary adhesive residue. It inspects the film and underlying paint before confirming the work.
How long does a car wrap last?
Limitless’s page gives conflicting estimates: three to five years near its prices and seven years in its FAQ. Ask the installer for the selected film’s expected life and warranty.
