Short answer

Glass repair versus a complete bay, bow-window prices, roof and seat work, support cables, interior trim and dated owner quotes.

A draft around the window seat or cloudy glass can make you want the whole bay window gone. But first work out whether the problem is in the glass, the frame, or the structure holding it outside your wall.

So bay window replacement costs $1,500 to $3,500 installed in The Window Source of Delmarva’s published local range. Its bow windows are $2,500 to $5,000 or more, depending on size and panel count.

I will explain what to compare in a replacement quote, where the roof and seat add work, and what older homeowner quotes reveal. These US pages were checked October 18, 2026.

Glass Repair or a Whole New Bay?

Glass Doctor repairs bay windows by replacing glass units. A broken pane or failed insulated-glass unit does not automatically mean the projecting frame needs replacement.

Glass work deserves a quote when the frame is sound and the windows still operate properly. Sagging, rotten framing or water entering around the roof calls for a broader inspection.

A glass price covers the affected section. A whole-bay price should identify the center window, both side windows and the surrounding assembly. Counting each pane as a separate complete bay would greatly overstate the job.

Bay and Bow Window Prices

A bay usually has a large center window with two angled sides. A bow uses more panels to form a gentler curve. Match the width, projection and opening windows before comparing their prices.

Bow window, installedThe Window Source of Delmarva, size and panels affect cost$2,500 – $5,000 or more

The Delmarva company describes fitting these windows into an existing opening without structural changes. Its prices should not be read as an allowance to widen a wall or rebuild damaged framing.

For a supply-only comparison, Brennan’s October 2021 price sheet gives $1,315 to $2,075 for a specified white vinyl bay configuration. Its note excludes tax and installation. Treat this as an older example, not a current order price.

Brennan’s example combines 20-by-63-inch sides with a 54-by-64-inch center and low-e, argon-filled glass. The dimensions and glass package are part of that price, so it cannot stand in for every bay.

The Roof, Seat and Supports Belong in the Quote

The attractive bit inside is only part of the assembly. Andersen’s bay-window guide distinguishes projecting units supported from the house from bays built on walls extending to the foundation.

Window World offers a cable-hanging system, head and seat boards, roof options and interior trim packages. Ask which of those your price includes, rather than assuming the window product comes with every finished surface.

  • Will the old roof stay, need repairs, or be replaced? Ask who will seal the joint where it meets the wall.
  • Choose the shelf material and finish, and ask about insulation underneath. Check whether the design provides a shelf or room for seating.
  • Ask how the new bay will be supported and whether the framing needs repairs.
  • Agree who will finish the inside trim and repair or paint the surrounding wall.

Andersen also describes insulation at the header and below the seat board. Leaving those areas unfinished can undermine the comfort you expected from better glass.

Include roof and flashing, seat and insulation, supports and interior trim in the scope of a bay-window quote.

What Homeowners Were Quoted

These Houzz posts are dated examples of different scopes. None is a new quote for your home, and the multi-window package is not a bay-only price.

Keeping the Opening or Making It Bigger

I would price a replacement in the existing opening first if you like the room as it is. A new bay cut into a wall can involve a header, structural work and siding repairs before the window is even fitted.

Have the local building department confirm permits for the actual work, especially an enlarged opening. If you are pricing a small below-ground window instead, our basement window guide covers that job.

When comparing installers, use the same window configuration and finish list. Get the handling of hidden rot in writing, including how extra work is approved after the old unit comes out.

Questions About Replacing a Bay Window

Does the Listed Window Height Include the Seat Board?

Andersen explains that the head and seat boards are not included in its bay-window unit height. Have the installer account for those boards when measuring.

How Long Does Installation Take?

The Window Source of Delmarva usually completes one bay or bow in one day, including removal, sealing, finishing and cleanup. Larger or more complex jobs may take two days.

Does Glass Replacement Fix a Roof Leak?

No. Replacing glass addresses the damaged glass unit. Water entering at the roof or wall joint needs that entry point repaired.

Where These Prices Come From
