Your Mercedes just put “Service B” on the dashboard, and now you are wondering what that visit will cost you. The quotes you get can be far apart, too.
So how much is it? At the dealers and the independent shop I checked, Service B costs $450 to $1,059, depending on your model and where you take it.
In this guide I will show you what Service B includes, what dealers and an independent Mercedes shop charge, what owners on MBWorld actually paid, and how to keep the bill down.
What Is Mercedes-Benz Service B?
Mercedes uses two kinds of maintenance visits, Service A and Service B, and they take turns. Mercedes-Benz of Chandler in Arizona does Service B at 20,000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes first.
Service B is the bigger of the two. On that dealer’s list, every model gets these:
- synthetic motor oil and a new oil filter
- a check of all fluid levels
- a tire pressure check
- a brake inspection
- a new cabin dust or combination filter
- a brake fluid exchange
- a reset of the maintenance counter

Diesels, V12 engines and AMG models can need more work, which costs more, so their prices are higher than the ones below.
What Mercedes Dealers Charge
Dealers rarely put a fixed price online, because it changes from model to model. These are the ones I could find:
The two Maryland prices come from Mercedes Specialists, an independent shop. They called both dealers for a 2023 GLE 350 4MATIC on September 18, 2026, and put the quotes on their own price page.
The Chandler page has no date, and it also shows a 2021 car price, so treat its $950 as a few years old.
What an Independent Mercedes Shop Charges
Mercedes Specialists in Westminster, Maryland charges $504.95 for Service B on that same 2023 GLE 350 4MATIC, as their new customer price. That is about half of the two Maryland dealer quotes.
Their Service B covers the oil and an original Mercedes oil filter, a 50 point inspection, the cabin filter, a tire rotation where possible, a brake check and the counter reset. Shop supplies and tax come on top.
One thing to check with any shop: Mercedes’ own Service B includes a brake fluid exchange. Ask if it is in the price, so you compare the same job.
What Owners Paid, From MBWorld
Dealer prices are one thing, but I always like to see what owners really paid. MBWorld, a big Mercedes owners’ forum, has a thread where people shared their Service B bills:
- An owner in Arizona with a 2022 C 300 coupe was told Service B would be just under $1,000, a little over $1,000 with tax, in September 2024.
- The same owner then called dealers farther away, and one quoted $695 for exactly the same work, later that month.
- The owner of a 2015 E400 near New Orleans wrote that their dealer used to charge $300, and that anything over $500 is too much.
- The owner of a 2020 C 300 paid $1,500 at an independent European car shop in early 2025, but that bill also had a transmission service in it, as they wrote in October 2025.
That second story is the best tip in this guide. The same car, the same Service B, and about $300 less just by calling another dealer.
The last one is a warning too. Extra work like a transmission service can double the bill, so always ask for a list of what is being done before you say yes.

Doing It Yourself
Some owners do Service B at home. On the same MBWorld thread, one member put the parts at about $40 for oil, $15 for the oil filter, $15 for brake fluid and $35 for the other filters, in October 2025.
That is about $105 in parts. But a brake fluid exchange needs the right tools and some experience, and you also have to reset the service counter yourself. If you are not sure, I advise you to leave the brakes to a shop.

Prepaid Maintenance Plans
Mercedes-Benz also sells prepaid maintenance plans that cover the A and B visits in advance. Their brochure offers plans from 2 years or 20,000 miles up to 4 years or 40,000 miles.
You have to buy one before the first service or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. So it is something to ask about when you buy the car, not when Service B is already due.
