Your engine shakes at a stop in Drive and smooths out when you rev it, or you hear a clunk every time you shift out of Park. A worn engine mount is a common cause, and the price depends on which mount it is and how hard it is to reach.
So how much does it cost to replace engine mounts? Luxury Auto Works, a repair shop in Austin, puts most jobs at $350 to $900 when the mounts are simple to reach.
Luxury cars with several mounts, or mounts that need the subframe supported, run $900 to $1,800 or more there.
One mount can cost much less. With Toyota’s own part and job time, the right mount on a 2020 to 2024 Corolla comes to $264.38.
In this guide I will show you what the shop charges, what the carmakers’ own parts and times add up to, and what owners paid. I will also show you the checks carmakers ask for before a mount is replaced.
What a Repair Shop Charges
Here are the Austin shop’s prices from its 2026 page:
Labor runs 1.5 to 4 hours per mount, the shop says, and a mount with simple access takes 2 to 3 hours in all. Some high performance or V8 and V12 mounts cost over $600 each.
If one mount has clearly failed and the others test fine, replacing just that one is reasonable. Past about 70,000 miles, or when two or more are soft, the shop advises replacing the set.
What the Carmakers’ Own Parts and Times Come To
Toyota found that the right engine mount on some 2020 to 2024 Corolla models with the 2.0 liter engine can vibrate or rattle at idle. The noise usually goes away above idle and shows up most in warm weather.
Toyota’s fix is a new right mount, and it pays its dealers 0.7 hour for the job. With its part from a dealer parts website, checked October 13, 2026, and $132 an hour, Tekmetric’s US average from June 2026:
So the right mount comes to $264.38. Toyota covers this repair under its powertrain warranty for 5 years or 60,000 miles, so check that first.
Jeep found a low vibration noise at idle in gear on some 2021 and 2022 Grand Cherokee models with the 3.6 liter V6. Its fix is both engine mounts in an updated version, and it pays 3.9 hours for the pair:
So both mounts come to $618.36, and most of that is labor.
Ford’s fix for an idle vibration on some 2020 Escape SUVs with the 1.5 liter engine replaces three parts: the right engine mount, the left transmission mount and the roll restrictor under the engine.

Ford pays 1.9 hours for all three, which is $250.80 in labor.
GM pays 3.1 to 3.8 hours to replace both engine mounts on 2014 to 2019 Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade models. That is $409.20 to $501.60 in labor alone.
Test Before You Replace
GM asks its dealers to measure the idle vibration with a sensor on the seat track before replacing those truck mounts, a 0.4 hour check. On trucks built after a production change, GM shims the mounts instead of replacing them.
On some 2012 and 2013 Impala models, GM had dealers loosen the rear mount nuts and rev the engine against the brakes. If the knock went away, the rear mount was replaced. That job pays 3.9 hours, so the test is worth it.
Jeep tells its dealers to read the part number under each mount first. If the mounts are already the updated version, the noise comes from somewhere else.
What Owners Paid
Here is what owners told NHTSA, the US road safety agency, they paid or were quoted, with a link to each complaint:
- A broken driver side motor mount on a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe with 159,000 miles was replaced for $350 in February 2026, filed in August 2026.
- A dealer found the front engine mount weak on a 2011 GMC Acadia and estimated $447.85 to fix it, filed in April 2018.
- A Honda service center replaced the motor mount on a 2010 Honda Civic for $600, filed in November 2017.
- The right engine mount on a 2019 MINI Countryman was starting to tear at 17,000 miles, and the dealer quoted $1,135.83, filed in August 2026.
- A dealer replaced an engine support, a transmission mount and an engine mount on a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica for $1,191, $535 in parts and $600 in labor, filed in November 2024.
- Collapsed engine mounts on a 2019 BMW X3 with 68,000 miles were going to cost $2,098.50 at a BMW dealer, filed in August 2025.
So owners paid or were quoted $350 to $2,098.50. Single mounts on common cars stayed inside the shop’s simple range, while several mounts or a luxury badge pushed the bill past $1,000.

It can also pay to ask the carmaker. The owner of a 2016 Jeep Renegade was quoted $600 or more for a mount, fitted a Jeep part themselves and was paid back $241.68 by FCA, filed in March 2022.
Signs of a Bad Engine Mount
More vibration at idle that eases a little when the engine revs is the usual sign, the Austin shop says. New rattles from the dash, the steering column or the door panels often come with it.
A dull thud when you shift into Drive or Reverse, step on the gas or brake hard means the engine is moving too much. Hydraulic mounts can also seep dark or amber fluid near the mount body.
Look for hoses that are stretched or rubbed, or marks where the engine touched the firewall or subframe. A worn mount also puts strain on the exhaust and other parts around the engine.
Engine Mount Questions You Might Have
How much does it cost to replace engine mounts?
A repair shop in Austin charges $350 to $900 for most simpler jobs, and $900 to $1,800 or more on luxury cars with several mounts or subframe work.
How much does one engine mount cost?
At the Austin shop the part is $75 to $250 for a rubber mount and $200 to $500 or more for a hydraulic or active one. Toyota’s right mount for the 2020 to 2024 Corolla is $171.98, or $264.38 fitted with Toyota’s time.
How long does it take to replace an engine mount?
Simple access takes 2 to 3 hours at the Austin shop. Carmakers pay 0.7 hour for one Corolla mount and 3.9 hours for both mounts on a 2021 or 2022 Grand Cherokee.
Should I replace all engine mounts at once?
Replace one if only one has failed and the others test fine. Past about 70,000 miles, or with two or more soft mounts, the Austin shop advises the full set.
Can I drive with a bad engine mount?
For a short while, but a failing mount lets the engine move, which stretches hoses and stresses the exhaust and other parts. Get it checked once the shaking or clunks start.
